DESCRIPTION:Join us to hear the story of a dream.The Gambia is the smallest country in Africa and has a population of lessthan 3 million people. This is the story of a small team working through aRegistered Charity (no. 1213887) to support a remote village\, Kerr Layen\,which is a 4.5 hour drive from the nation’s capital\, Banjul.The dream is for the village to be able to educate its own children\, to growits own food and to thrive independently. With 36 hectares of land forrice\, mango\, and couscous\, the village is aiming for self-sustainability anda hand-built well brings running water for the first time. AVD is alsosupporting new small businesses – a tailor\, a baker and a market garden.A newly built school currently has 150+ children enrolled\, providing twomeals a day working from 4 classrooms and building has started on anadditional two as the numbers grow.The journey so far is a fascinating story which\, together with future plans\,can be heard from Lee Glasgow\, AVD founder.Join us on Friday 24th April at 7pm at St Wilfrid’s Church Hall\, ChurchRoad\, Kibworth \, LE8 0NB.
